OBJECTIVE

To provide and assist learners with gaining the required knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF) relevant to each of the three CIA exam parts.

 

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

Internal auditors, Senior internal auditors, Internal audit managers, Chief audit executives.

 

COURSE OVERVIEW

CIA Part 1:

Aims to provide candidates with knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the IPPF, particularly the Attribute Standards (series 1000, 1100, 1200, and 1300) as well as Performance Standard 2100. The domains to be covered include:

  • The foundation of internal auditing.
  • Independence and objectivity.
  • Proficiency and due professional care.
  • Quality assurance and improvement programs.
  • Governance, risk management, and control; and
  • Fraud risk.

  CIA Part 2:

  Aims to provide candidates with knowledge, skills, and abilities particularly related to Performance

  Standards (series 2000, 2200, 2300, 2400, 2500, and 2600) and current internal audit practices.

  The domains that will be covered include:

  •       Managing the internal audit activity.

  •       Planning the engagement.

  •       Performing the engagement, and

  •       Communicating engagement results and monitoring progress.

CIA Part 3:

Aims to provide candidates with knowledge, skills, and abilities, particularly as they relate to the core business concepts as covered within the four domains linked to this part of the CIA exam, namely:

  • Business acumen.
  • Information security.
  • Information technology, and
  • Financial management.

 

COURSE DELIVERY

The SLP can be delivered as a face-to-face or virtual (online) offering, which in certain instances might be supported by blended learning. Learning methods will include:

  • Presentations
  • Case studies
  • Group work sessions
  • Online MOC assessments

 

SITE DELIVERY

Option 1 – on campus at Nelson Mandela University Business School, Second Avenue campus, Summerstrand

Option 2 -- in-house at the client’s business premises (In-house).

 Option 3 – virtual via MS Teams.

*Virtual offerings are available during the following months of each year:

  • Part 1 – offered during May.
  • Part 2 – offered during August.
  • Part 3 – offered during October.

Time: 08:30 – 16:30

 

Option 3

Number of days – 8 per part

Time: 18:00 – 20:00

(Two contact sessions of two (2) hours per week for one (1) month or four (4) weeks to complete the course).
