Target Participants:

• All Occupational Health, Hygiene and Environmental health practitioners wishing to do audiometric  testing
• Other persons with a matric certificate wishing to obtain a certificate in audiometry.

Course Content:

Theoretical and practical tuition comprising the following:

• Physics of Sound
• Anatomy of the Ear
• Physiology of the Ear
• Pathology of the Ear and hearing loss
• Audiometric testing according to legislation
• Hearing conservation programme
• Computers and Audiometers
• Interpretation of data
• Hearing Conservation Programme (control of noise)
• Practical Sessions

Course Content

• Noise Induced Hearing Loss regulations.
• Instruction 171 - Content and application.
• Otoscopic examination of the ear.
• Qualification: Attendance certificate stating that
• the candidate attended lectures on Instruction
• 171 of COIDA.
